In 2020, we established a creative partnership with the award-winning designer jewellery brand, Aligheri, founded by London-based designer Rosh Mahtani.
A demi-fine jewellery brand rooted in literature and art, Rosh sculpts each fragmented talisman in wax, a spiritual and cathartic process that dates back centuries. Each fragmented talisman is inspired by Dante Alighieri’s own story of being lost in a dark wood. These Modern Heirlooms celebrate the beauty of human imperfection and vulnerability. Rosh is driven by telling stories through the universal language of jewellery that bring people together by unlocking narratives and embarking on adventures. Alighieri Jewellery is worn by the bravest storytellers, from Michaela Coel to Dina Asher-Smith and Marcus Rashford, all sharing their own narrative’s through Aligheri’s Modern Heirlooms.
Curated by Benji B, Aligheri invited NYX to perform a special music commission to HRH Princess Anne and an invited audience of fashion editors from across the globe, celebrating her winning the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. To the ghostly sounds and ethereal voices of NYX, a series of models dressed in Baserange lingerie and the glittering pieces that have earned Alighieri such a devoted fanbase meandered within its stone walls, navigating between statues draped in her new collection of designs and walls of yarrow flowers. The performance took place at St Etheldreda’s Crypt: in the oldest Roman Catholic church in England, a space which has played host to everyone from King Henry VIII (one of his many wedding feasts was held there) to Sir Christopher Hatton.
Following the success of our collaboration, NYX have continued a creative partnership with Aligheri and Rosh Mahtani. During lockdown, Aligheri commissioned a socially-distanced ‘isolation’ performance and Instagram Live conversation released on their channels. NYX singers have worn Alighieri jewellery during live performance, including featuring over 30 pieces of jewellery in our short film, Deep England, directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard.
